Intro to Information System Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Intro to Information System - Assignment Example Baidu and Google have major differences. Google provides many results than Baidu on the same search most of which may not be relevant. Baidu on the other hand provides fewer results which are more accurate and relevant. Baidu is more customized to address internet needs for Chinese population while Google tries to generalize its services to the global community. I like Google since it provides more information which is useful in research. Baidu is good since it narrows its results to more relevant information particularly in Chinese hence more useful in quick search. I dislike Google since it has more restrictions on copyrighted items. Baidu also fails to appeal since I have to request for translation every time I open a new search result page. Microsoft seems to be the best in product help screen. Microsoft provides easy to follow help topics which are easy to follow even for average persons. Problem troubleshooting downloadable software is of utmost beneficial. The program does automatic troubleshooting, repairs the installation problem and if it can’t do that it sends the problem to Microsoft site for technical review. CDs, DVDs and Blue ray Discs are multipurpose information storage devices each having advantages and disadvantages. I like CDs since they are less risky in data storage. A CD is still readable even with slight scratches on the surface. Additionally, they can be played on all machines. I dislike them since they hold very little data. DVDs are good since they are playable on most machines and hold more data than CDs. However, I dislike them since they are sensitive to surface mechanical damage. I like Blue ray Discs due to their massive storage space however, I dislike them since they require ultramodern machines to play them and also their high sensitivity to scratches. Damage to one Blue-ray disc means loss of a lot of data which is not admirable at

Near-consultant quality Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

Near-consultant quality - Essay Example The cascading effects of a changing weather has also affected and modified the geographical distribution of life forms in the upland area going to the lowland where they can now be found within residential spaces. Some marine animals have also died of starvation because of the disappearance of their usual preys that probably migrated to keep up with the decreasing quality of water salinity. Indeed, climate change produces adverse effects on the habitat of these living things and also, in the environment we humans live in. Our rivers and lakes in Canada have been recorded to have dropped in water levels due to the intense heat caused by these long trends of shifting weather. It is my goal in this paper to discuss the impacts of climate change on the Great Lakes with emphasis on its geographical implications and, to propose the urgency of the actions we can contribute to mitigate the hazardous effects of climate change being an inevitable consequence of the industrialized systems that we have approved of. The Great Lakes form the â€Å"largest fresh surface water system on earth† (Manninen) that being 21% of the whole planet (â€Å"Great Lakes†). It is a vast lake found in the northeastern North America, within the Canada-United States border which is connected to the Atlantic Ocean through Saint Lawrence Seaway and Great Lakes Waterway (â€Å"Great Lakes†). Manninen further defines that it covers more than 94,000 square miles and drains more than twice as much land. It is 9.5 feet deep and holds about 6 quadrillion gallons of water which is like one-fifth of the world’s fresh surface water supply and nine-tenths of United States supply (Manninen). That is a vital role of the Great Lakes basin being â€Å"home to 8.5 million Canadians and 30.7 million Americans† (Environment Canada). The Great Lakes consists of the smaller lakes known as Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie and Ontario. The Great Lakes highly contributed to the development of

Effects Overeating Has On Children - Essay Example Moreover, children who are prone to overeating at a young age can sustain the habit as adults. Aside from the physical consequences of overeating and its link to obesity, children face mental consequences such as low self-esteem, depression and can retard social skills. Essentially, overeating has the potential to effect children in three main ways by exposing children to an increased risk of developing obesity. In this regard, obesity puts children at risk of developing physical, mental and social problems, each of which have attendant long and short term effects. Obesity itself has both long and short term consequences. The long term consequences are associated with the physical effects of obesity. Those consequences are risk of serious health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, hypertension and other serious health disorders. Each of these conditions have the capacity to follow the child into adulthood unless the child’s propensity for overeating is reversed and replaced by healthy eating and exercise habits at the earliest opportunity. In the overeating is not contained within a reasonable time, the habit of overeating and its attendant problem of obesity will likely follow the child into adulthood. As a result the physical conse quences of obesity as a result of overeating will be a long-term problem. The short term physical consequences of overeating in children are linked to acne, hair loss and additional cosmetic conditions that have consequences for the child’s self-esteem and social relationships and interactions. Obesity from overeating can affect the child’s mental health by perpetuating the risk of low self esteem. Low self-esteem also exposes the child to social problems. Therefore, the mental problems associated with overeating can remain with the child and affect the child’s ability to develop social skills. In the long term the lack of social skills can spill over into adulthood. Ultimately,

Benefits of exercise on heart disease---(Physical Fitness and Essay

Benefits of exercise on heart disease---(Physical Fitness and Nutrition) - Essay Example a revolution in the treatment and care of people suffering from diseases of the heart such as Arrhythmia, Congenital Heart defects, High Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, Heart Attack, Heart Failure or Peripheral Heart disease. Advanced technology used in diagnosis, surgery and treatment have made it possible to repair or fix these heart related defects. The intake of drugs, alcohol or tobacco contributes to high risk factors that eventually lead to heart problems. In lieu of this, physical fitness is a major contributing factor to a healthy heart. Exercise not only helps to relieve stress but it also helps to keep the body healthy and free from disease. How well your heart can compensate is determined by the level of overall fitness of your body, no matter which heart disease one has. In relation to this, exercises such as aerobics has a greater impact on a person with heart disease, as it results in physiological adaptations that allow submaximal workloads to be carried out even more efficiently, for it puts less strain on the cardiovascular system. Therefore regular participation of aerobic exercise guarantees a decrease in blood pressure and plays a protective role in the development of hypertension and CHD. Training studies that were conducted revealed that heart rate and blood pressure levels had significantly decreased in individuals with psychological stress and who had undergone aerobic exercises. The study included testing participants in both AT (aerobic training) and NT (no training). While the participants of the AT group were guided into doing regular aerobic exercises, the NT group of participants were instructed to r efrain from participating in any regular or new exercise. The NT group was also asked to maintain their regular daily activities and to record any prolonged physical activity that they performed during the day. Aerobic fitness was conducted and assessed via a graded exercise test on a motor-driven treadmill which needed the participants to

Reading Assignment Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Reading Assignment - Essay Example The case of California Marinas illustrates that global warming has other ill effects to the environment and that it has economic consequence not only in terms of loss of lives and properties but also on the income foregone when it ruins the basis of basis which in this case, drying waters in the Marina dock which turns potential customers away. Drying the waters due to dry spell also has other consequences that harm business. It also threatens our food security such as in the case of Castro Valley in California where the agriculture sector also suffered from the dry spell. Time will come that if we will not change our ways to begin taking care of our environment, storms will not only become stronger but will also ruin our business and destroy our crops that we will no longer have source of income nor food to eat. Since the inception of the Drought Monitor in 2000, the entire state of California has recently experienced the three worst stages of drought. This level of drought is the highest stage affecting entire state California. It used to be unthinkable but it is happening now. Unlike in Castro Valley where the drought dried up the waters of its Marina dock turning customers away and in some areas harming its agriculture, the experience of San Diego and San Clemente are more deadly. These areas experienced seven wildfires where raze of fire was so huge that their smoke plumes can be seen by satellite and radar. These wild fires are caused by hot, dry conditions where the dry vegetation acts like a fuel for the fires. Coupled with gusty winds, these wildfires can spread the fire to other areas that could kill people and destroy properties. The destructive effective of global warming are taking its toll in many unusual ways. It no longer manifests in terms of storms and hurricanes, but also in rising seas. In many areas, it causes long droughts that cause water basins to dry up harming people’s livelihood. It also threatens our food security

Dentistry - Annotated Bibliography Example People were determined as eligible on basis of their dental examination as well as history. Participants were also randomized into two groups into two arms in a design called parallel double blinded. Fifty eight partakers were randomized to study the DHA supplementation. Out of the 55 people who participated 27 of them had been randomly assigned to DHA. The rates of reaction for DHA +ASA were 79%. The data collected was managed using an electronic data capture platform and an analysis done using SAS 9.3. The 3 months randomized trial of using 2000 mg DHA with 81-mg ASA showed a significant improvement on periodontitis. The results clearly showed that DHA supplementation with low ASA dosage is effective in treating periodontitis. Additionally, it is safe and cheap. The article has different tables and graphs and statistics enhanced the validity and reliability of the results. The strengths of the study included verified adherence, consistency in outcomes and control procedures which w ere predominant throughout the study. On the other hand, the weaknesses included lack of proper limitation of measurement. The target audience in this study was medical experts and people suffering from periodontitis. The purpose of the study was to provide another option for treating periodontitis .The study will assist a lot of people in reducing their expenses in treating periodontitis which was previously treated using application of antibiotics and mechanical cleaning. Moisturize your Face with Steam Essay Example for Free

Moisturize your Face with Steam Essay Steaming is one of the most effective methods of removing pimples. To apply this method, boil water in a container for a couple of minutes. After that, place the container containing boiled water beneath your face. Allow the steam to dampen your face for a couple of minutes. Afterwards clean your face with lukewarm water. Boiling water helps remove debris and oil from your face without increasing the pimples. Alternately, you can use an oil free lotion to moisturize your face and remove pimples. Apply Toothpaste on your Pimples This is the most common cure for pimples. Of course, you may brush your teeth before sleeping every night, but this time, apply toothpaste on your face! Ideally, wake up once or twice in the night to ensure that the paste still covers the spot. You can apply the paste again if that is not the case; doing so will clear up your face in the morning. However, use toothpaste only and never apply gel on your pimples. Apply Lavender Oil on the Acne This is a less common remedy for pimple growth but it is known for bringing results, especially on teenagers. Apply lavender oil on your pimples several times and before going to sleep. This oil helps to dry up the spots to a great degree. Use Lemon Juice Another effective method of curing acne is applying lemon juice. When you rub lemon juice on your pimples, it has a quick effect. Use it before going to sleep to see great results in the morning. 9 ways to prevent a breakout and get clear skin 1. Do the One-Minute Rule Using a face wash laced with salicylic acid (from one to two percent depending on how bad, and how often, you break out) is a surefire way to stop pimples from forming. Its simple: Instead of spot treating after one pops up, youre keeping every single pore clear from the get go. Suds up in the morning and night, and then wait one full minute before rinsing so the gentle exfoliator can work its pore-clearing magic. 2. Wipe Away Oil If your T-zone typically resembles an oil slick 24/7-or youve worked up a sweat crossing off your to do list-dont wait until you get home to degrease. When excess sebum (aka oil) seeps into your pores, pimple-promoting bacteria will quickly follow. Use a pre-moistened salicylic acid-soaked cleansing cloth directly on oil-prone zones (i.e. your forehead, nose, chin) to help keep skin clean and prevent future breakouts. 3. Dont Forget to Hydrate Just because acne-prone skin has plenty of oil to go around, doesnt mean its water content, which is crucial for healthy skin, is up to par. Plus, overuse of oil-fighting products can leave skin parched-and wanting to compensate with more oil (eek!). Look for a lightweight, oil-free face cream that gives just the right amount of hydration, but wont contribute to your acne issue. What you want: A formula that contains hydrators that mimic those in skin naturally, like ceramides, humectants, and squalene. If your skin is super prone to acne, opt for an even lighter gel, not cream, texture. 4. Turn up the TLC Sometimes even if your skin is having a good (aka clear) day, you can still see some redness. Thats because acne is essentially inflammation, so some irritation all the time or post-pimple is common. Soothe sensitive skin overnight with calming botanicals such as chamomile, licorice, or aloe vera extract. 5. Exfoliate on the Regular Once or twice a week, take your skin smoothing up a notch and use a product that contains salicylic acid (or look for willow bark extract, its all natural counterpart) along with gentle fruit enzymes. This powerful pore-perfecting combo will help rev cell turnover and prevent dead skin cells, debris, and bacteria from building up in pores. 6. Start Using Retinol The gold standard of anti-aging also has an amazing anti-pimple track record. Apply a thin coat of a retinol-based treatment all over skin (if youve never used it before, you may need to work up to nightly; start off with three days a week to see how skin holds up to its potentially irritating effect). This vitamin-A derivative amps up cell turnover like no other so that pores have no choice but to stay clear. 7. Go Hands Free As in: Stop. Touching. Your. Face. Stress and hormones gone haywire are common culprits of a breakout-prone complexion but are not the only instigators. Piling on dirt all day long, like from constant contact with your iPhone or fingers, can create the perfect breeding ground for bacteria. Wipe down your cell phone once a day with an alcohol wipe or squirt some hand sanitizer on a tissue and rub it on the surface. And as you talk on your device, try not to press it firmly into your skin-it will only push makeup and dirt further into pores, causing you more pimple problems. 8. Feed Your Face Diet has a huge impact on skin and skin health (including acne): Up to 80 percent of your skin is affected by what you eat and drink. Fill your plate with a healthy, well-balanced diet to keep skin in the clear. Focus on eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables that are rich in vitamin A (grapefruit, mango, broccoli, and kale) to help normalize the production of dead skin cells, a key factor in acne breakouts. And add in eggs, salmon, and walnuts, which contain healthy oils that keep your complexion well nourished and help prevent pimples. 9. Chill Out Because the more you stress over a zit the bigger its going to get. When the stress hormone cortisol spikes, so does oil production-one of the main causes of adult acne (along with hyperactive lifestyles, alcohol, poor diet, and too much cumulative sun exposure). Instead, spot treat the bad boy with bacteria-fighting benzoyl peroxide. After a few minutes, this egg white mask must be rinsed with warm water. This method can be done 2-3 times in a week. Aloe Vera juice can also be a great natural remedy. We can see a lot of skin care products that contain Aloe Vera in its ingredients. Aloe Vera is an immune system booster. It also regenerates damaged skin tissues.
